FLANGE
Flange effects were originally created by simultaneously
recording and playing back identical material on two
tape recorders, then using hand pressure against the
flange of the tape reels to slow down first one machine,
then the other. The result was a series of changing phase
cancellations and reinforcements, with a characteristic
swishing, tunneling, and fading sound.
The MPX 200 stereo flanger has two 2-Tap delays - one
per channel. The first tap is fixed, and the second sweeps
past it. Mixing the two delay taps together creates the
flanging effect.
All of these programs should be used with Mix set to full
wet (100%) to achieve the full flange effect.
