Installation and Setup
In order to access the preset controls of this module when it is installed
in a FR-6004 rack frame, insert the 6070ME Extender PCB into the rack
first, so that the ADA-6081 PCB may be installed clear of the rack frame
and other PCBs.
The ADA-6081 and ADA-6081V are hot-swappable. Power to the
Genesis frame can remain on during the module installation.
1. Set links CN2 to CN9 for the fixed gain settings using the tables on
pages 9 to 11.
2. Install the ADA-6081 card into the slot using the A10 or AV12 rear
connector.
3. For the ADA-6081V module only , attach the output connections as
defined by the "Cable Connections" table on page 14.
4. For the ADA-6081V module only , set VR7, VR9, VR3 and VR1 to
give the desired peak over voltage level threshold as follows:
a. Input a signal of the desired limit value.
b. Monitor the test points TP6 (Ch1), TP7 (Ch2), TP5 (Ch3), and
TP4 (Ch4).
c. Adjust VR7, VR9, VR3, and VR1 respectively until the test
points display a +5 V trace with very narrow negative pulses.
5. For the ADA-6081V module only , set VR6, VR8, VR4 and VR2 to
give the desired silence level threshold as follows:
a. Input a signal of the desired limit value.
b. Monitor the test points TP8 (Ch1), TP9 (Ch2), TP3 (Ch3), and
TP2 (Ch4).
c. Adjust VR6, VR8, VR4, and VR2 respectively, until the signal
on the test points changes from 0 V to +5 V.
This equipment may be
damaged by electrostatic
discharge (ESD). Suitable
precautions must be observed
to minimize the risk of ESD
induced damage.
To comply with EMC
regulations, screened cable must
be used. The cable shields are
terminated either to one of the
shield pins on the connectors,
the frame ground pin, or to the
connector shell.
