8.2 Setting the illumination field
diameter
WARNING
Tissue heating!
Outside the area visible through the microscope,
uncontrolled tissue heating is possible.

Make sure that the field diameter is not larger than the
field of view and the light intensity is not set too high
The field diameter is automatically adapted to the size of the field
of view at the Leica M525 optics carrier. In addition, the field
diameter can be adjusted manually using the rotary knob (1).
Automatic adjustment is deactivated if the rotary knob is actuated.
You can reactivate it with the reset button (2).

• If the illumination field diameter is blocked at a high
light intensity in a high zoom setting and cannot be
adjusted automatically or manually, then the light
intensity must be reduced in order to protect the tissue.
• If the field diameter is locked in a small position and
cannot be adjusted either automatically or manually,
you can use an OP lamp to better illuminate a large field
of view (small zoom position).
8.3 Working with LASER and
locking/releasing the multi-focal
focus
Locking the focus is necessary when using a fixed working
distance or when working with a laser.
WARNING
Severe tissue damage can result from an incorrect working
distance!

When using lasers, always set the working distance of
the microscope to laser distance and lock the microscope
in position.
WARNING
Tissue heating!
Severe injury to tissue can result from manual adjustment of
the working distance!

Do not adjust the rotary knob for manual setting of the
working distance while using the laser.
Set the required working distance with the focus buttons on the
handle/footswitch or, if a fault occurs, manually with the rotary
knob (4).
The set working distance can be read at the display (3).
Press button (5).
The yellow LED (6) lights up and the focus is locked.
Press button (5) again.
The yellow LED (6) goes out and the focus is released.
