2.1.2 Station inputs table
The DTM-MA has 2 physical inputs, labeled EMER and OCC on the circuit board. Typically, an
occupancy sensor would be connected to OCC and a fire alarm would be connected to EMER but
these can be connected to any dry-contact input. EMER can also be connected to a daylight sensor by
setting jumpers J4 and J5. See section 4.1 for connection details. The jumpers must be in the correct
position or the input will not work.
Configuring an input signal is a 2-step process.
Step 1: Configure the signal according to its physical characteristics and assign it to a port. The signal
can be maintained, momentary, or analog (EMER only, for daylight sensors). The signal can be
'active high' or 'active low', where 'active' is the 'on' state of a general purpose input or the 'occupied'
(motion detected) state of an occupancy sensor. An 'active high' daylight sensor reports 10v when
light is brightest. The port assignment determines how the signal gets used, and its number. For
example, input signal OCC could configured as port 'occ1' (occupancy sensor #1) and EMER could be
configured as port 'gpi1' (general purpose input #1).
Step 2: Configure the port. This is where you select the action that the 'gpi' port triggers or the
behavior of the 'occ' and 'day' ports. See section 2.7.1 to configure occupancy sensor ports, section
2.7.2 to configure general purpose input ports and section 2.7.3 to configure daylight sensor ports.
If there is an S-MIO in the system:
Port assignments are used throughout the system so they must be unique. If this master has assigned
gpi1 and occ1, then these must not also be assigned at an S-MIO.
Example 1: If you want signal EMER to start the emergency function when the signal is high,
configure signal EM to be maintained, active high, and assigned to gpi1. Then, go to the general
purpose inputs configuration and set the action of port gpi1 to 'emerg on'.
Example 2: If you want signal OCC to be from an active low occupancy sensor in area 1, configure
signal OCC to be maintained, active low, and assigned to occ1 in area 1. Go to the occupancy
sensor configuration in area 1 to set up the occupied and vacant presets as desired.
Input signal types:
mntd: a maintained signal has two states, 'on' and 'off'. Each state corresponds to a high or low
level, depending on the polarity setting.
mom1: a pulse with a minimum width of 40ms. Every time the pulse occurs, the 'on' state will
occur. Do not use this type for an occupancy sensor or for a general purpose input used to
trigger Emergency.
mom2: a pulse with a minimum width of 40ms. Every pulse causes the 'on' and 'off' states to
alternate.
anlg: analog input from a daylight sensor (EM only).
Input signal polarity:
high: a high level or pulse means the 'on' state. For daylight sensors, 10v means sensor is
reporting maximum light.
