Check the oil level and condition in the gearbox. The oil level should be 1/4” to 3/8” below 
the bottom edge of the side plug. The gearbox should be approximately half full (28 
ounces). Add oil if low. If the oil appears excessively contaminated, change the oil. Use 
SAE 80W-90 grade gear oil.

Inspect the entire area around and under the gearbox for any oil leakage. If a leak is dis-
covered, repair it and refill the gearbox before operating the Articulator.

Mower Deck Leveling Adjustment

The 721XF Articulator mowing decks come leveled from the Lastec factory. Should deck 
leveling be necessary due to shipping, usage, or maintenance, the following procedure 
can re-level the decks as needed.

Leveling decks 1 and 3

Decks 1 and 3 attach to the deck cross 
tube by sliding pivot ball joints. These 
joints can be adjusted by setting the cam 
position of the deck adjustment cam.

Back off the central bolt going through 
the ball joint and into the cam adjustment 
nut. 

Do not remove the bolt!

push out the deck adjustment cam nut to 
clear the stop block. Rotate the cam to 
the desired position to level the deck.

Tighten the central bolt. Note that the stop block prevents the cam adjustment nut from 
rotating out of position.

Adjusting these decks may have an 
effect on Decks 6 and 7. Check for 
proper leveling of all decks, and repeat if 
necessary.
