2.6 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
The following precautions should always be exercised when using the PrimeSight UNITY 9000
Video Processor and any other electromedical equipment used during the procedure to ensure
safety for all involved parties – user(s), patient(s), etc.
2.7 BEFORE USE
Never drop the equipment or subject it to severe impact, as it could
compromise the functionality and/or safety of the unit. Should this
equipment be mishandled or dropped, do not use it. Return it to an
authorized LABORIE service facility for inspection and repair.
Carefully inspect all equipment before using it in a procedure, and do not
use any equipment that is damaged or excessively worn. Doing so could
lead to patient injury and/or further damage to the equipment.
Do not install or use the PrimeSight UNITY 9000 Digital Video Processor
in the following environments or conditions:
• In areas where flammable or explosive gases or chemicals are present.
This could result in fire or explosion.
• In areas where it could become wet or exposed to conditions such as
high temperature, humidity, direct sunlight, dust, salt, etc.
• In areas where it could be subjected to impacts or vibrations.
• In areas where the processor’s air intake vent is obstructed or blocked.
Do not allow the power cord to become twisted, crushed or pulled taut.
This could cause the cord to become damaged.
Only position the equipment so that the power cord can be easily
disconnected from the power entry module or from the AC wall outlet
when necessary to disconnect power to the unit.
All devices connected to the PrimeSight UNITY 9000 Video Processor
must be Classified Medical Equipment. If additional equipment is
connected to the processor, the operator must determine that all
equipment complies with the appropriate end-product safety standard
(such as IEC 60950 or IEC 60065) and the Standards for Medical Electrical
Equipment, ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 or IEC 60601-1.
To prevent electrical shock when used with endoscopes, this equipment
is insulated (type BF electromedical equipment). Do not allow it to be
grounded to other electrical devices being used on the patient. Rubber
gloves should always be worn to prevent grounding through user(s).
