Recovery of condensate in 
Cold Trap is less than 
normally expected 

Cold Trap is not ON 

Check to make sure switch is ON and 
condensing unit fan is moving air out 
of the sides of the cabinet. 

 

 

 

 

Cold Trap does not cool 
down 

Turn vacuum pump OFF and allow 
Cold Trap to cool for at least 30 min. to 
reach temperature. 

 

 

 

 

 

-50°C temperature can be checked with 
a solvent thermometer or digital 
thermometer. 

 

 

 

Unit starts and shuts off 

Latch optical sensor 
improperly calibrated 

Unplug power cord.  Wait 10 seconds.  
Plug in power cord.
