6.22 EMERGENCY CHECK-IN TIMER
The Emergency Check In Timer is an added safety feature for a radio user who may be in a
dangerous environment. If this timer expires before being cancelled by the radio operator, an
emergency is declared.
To enable the Emergency-Check In Timer via the radio menu:
1. Press the Menu/Select button to access the main menu.
2. Press the left or right navigation buttons to display the
CALL
menu.
3. Press the up or down navigation buttons to highlight
EMERGENCY TIMER
and press the
Menu/Select button.
4. Set the Emergency Check-In Timer using the left or right navigation buttons. The minimum
and maximum allowable values are programmed via RPM2. Default is 10 minutes.
5. Press RESTART to restart the timer or STOP to stop the timer and return to the CALL menu.
If enabled via RPM2, pressing the PTT button will also restart the timer.
Power cycling the radio will stop the Emergency Check-In Timer.
If the
EMERGENCY TIMER
menu is not available to the radio user, a button can be programmed
to enable/disable the Emergency Check-In Timer. In this case, the timer value is set in RPM2 and
cannot be changed at the radio.
