990 APEX Service Manual

Greasing the Feed System Bearings

This section details greasing procedure for the feed system. The feed system is located on the

fixed side and the movable side of the machines. The greasing points include the idler portion of

each pulley and hub bearings on each motor feed axles.
For recommended greasing schedule for all assemblies,

see “Lubrication Schedule” on page

2-23.

For more information about idler bearings,

see “Pulley and Idler Shafts” on page

2-22.

Recommended Tools

Process to Grease Feed System Bearings

Use an extender to reach tight areas.

Important:

Do not overfill the idler shaft to avoid getting excess grease on the belts

Perform

Lockout/ Tagout.

Find the idler and hub bearings identified in

Figure

2- 31 on page

2-38

Identify zerk fittings on the bearings.

Apply approximatively 1 Gram (one pump from grease gun) of EP-2 grease.

After lubrication is completed, clean up excess grease.

Reverse

Lockout/Tagout.
