b) Upper Belt Tension Adjustment  

 CAUTION

To avoid personal injury: 

Always stop the engine, set the parking 
brake, remove the key and disengage the 
drive pulley before adjusting the upper belt 
tension. 

If the front PTO belt slips while the PTO is 
operating under load, check the front belt 
tension and adjust the tension spring length, as 
explained below. 

  Engage PTO lever. 

  Measure tension spring length 

"L".

 

 If

 "L" 

is smaller than 67 mm (2.64 in.) adjust 

it with the tension clutch cable adjusting nut.  

"L"

 should be 69 to 72 mm (2.72 to 2.84 in.) 

  After adjustment tighten the nut securely. 

  When replacing the PTO belt, 

"L"

 should be 

73 to 75 mm (2.87 to 2.95 in.).
