Make a sanding block of about 50x300 mm, fix 100 grit sandpaper to it and sand hull edges as shown in Fig. C.
Get out from Plywood 7 mm the part 68. Cut carefully
the small narrows in the ply and plane the edges. Do this
with all wood parts. Place part 68 on the keel as shown
in side-view and mark hole for stern tube on the hull. Drill
a 5 mm dia. hole first, then open it up with a round file to
7 mm dia., so that the fillet fits snugly between hull bottom
and stern tube.
Soak deck support strips 2 and 3 in hot water, take a
pencil and draw a line 3 mm below the upper hull edge
around the inside ofthe hull to mark the position of the
support strips as shown in Fig. D. When thoroughly soa-
ked, clamp support strips in position, spreading the hull as
necessary with scrap strip material and let dry over night.
To avoid wavy hull sides use
scrap strip material on the out-
side of the hull when clamping
the dry deck supports 2 and
3 in position (see Fig. D), then
run CA-cement between deck
supports and hull. The scrap
strips are not cemented to the
hull! See how to apply the CA-
cement to avoid spoiling the
hull surface. Then cement stern
doublers 4 and 5 in position in
the same fashion.
Cut out servo base 7 to fit your
servo and switch, cement sup-
ports 6 under its sides, let dry,
waterproof with sanding sealer
and clear varnish and then ce-
ment assembly in position with
CA-cement. Please note that all
edges to be cemented must be
free of varnish and/or enamel.
Place deck 8 onto the plan and mark positions of doublers 9, aligning strips 10, aligning blocks 11 and beams 12
through 15 with pencil, then cement parts in position with CA-cement. Measurements can be found on the reduced
scale diecut sheet plan.
Cut the antenna near the receiver and install a coupling. Then thread it from the rear through the holes in deck be-
ams 14 and 13 and fix it to the underside of deck 8.
Then fit the deck into the hull, pressing it tightly onto supports 2 and 3. Remove it, run a not too generous bead of
ABS-cement along the upper surfaces of supports, put the deck into position, tape it safely to the hull as shown in
Fig. E and turn the hull over until the cement has dried thoroughly, thus avoiding surplus cement spoiling the hull
surface.
Sand the hull edges flush with the deck where necessary and then cement plan king edges 16 and 17 onto deck
and hull edges with CA-cement. Work in small steps and use some scrap strip to adjust the outer edges absolutely
flush with the hull outsides as shown in Fig. F.
Then cut, fit and cement planks 18 onto the deck, beginning with the centre plank and using PVA-white glue. Let dry
thoroughly and then carefully sand planks and planking edges flush with each other.
