Operation
To work parallel to an edge, use the guide fence
10
(fig 3). The guide fence is very useful for
maintaining a straight cut when, for example,
trimming doors. lf you have a lot of edges to plane,
adjust the position of the fence in stages so that
the entire width of the blade is used progressively,
thereby extending the life of the blade. Use one of
the T-grip screws to attach the guide fence at the
guide fence attachment point
11
. Ensure that the
fixing bracket fits between the stiles on the planer
body. The position of the guide fence can be
adjusted to suit different tasks. To follow an edge,
make the cut as above (‘Making a cut’) keeping the
fence pressed against the face of the workpiece.
To start the planer, depress the safe start button
2
and squeeze the ON / OFF switch
1
. To stop the
tool, release the ON / OFF switch
1
(fig 1)
Set the depth of cut required by rotating the depth
adjustment handle
4
to the appropriate number
(mm of cutting depth). Hold the planer securely,
using both hands, and rest the front edge of the
sole plate
7
on the edge of the workpiece. Check
that the cutter is not in contact with the workpiece,
or any other object. Start the tool and allow the
motor to reach full speed, then push the planer
forwards across the workpiece. Maintain a steady
movement, and ensure that the sole plate
7
is kept
pressed against the workpiece.
Switching ON and OFF
Making а cut
Using the guide fence
To increase the depth of cut, rotate the depth
adjustment handle
4
clockwise (fig 2). To reduce
the depth of cut, rotate the depth adjustment
handle counterclockwise. This planer will cut to a
maximum depth of 2.0mm. To achieve the best
quality of finish, remove material in a series of
shallow cuts rather than one deep cut.
Adjusting the depth of cut
Tighten all bolts equally.
Repeat
this procedure for the other blade.
Before connecting to power, rotate the drum
by hand to check that it does not catch or
snag.
Allow the cutter to move off the end of the
material before releasing the ON / OFF switch
1
.
Do not set the machine down until the cutter
has stopped completely.
lf a deep cut is required, repeat the above
steps.
