Installation

P R E L I M I N A R Y

3. Disconnect any interfacing cables that may be connected to the board.

4. Unscrew the front panel retaining screws.
5. Unlock the ejector handle.
6. Using the ejector handle, disengage the board from the backplane and carefully remove

it from the system.

7. Dispose of the “old” board as required observing the safety requirements indicated in

Chapter 3.1.

8. Obtain the replacement CP308 board.

9. Carefully insert the “new” board into the “old” board slot until it makes contact with the

backplane connectors.

10. Using the ejector handle, engage the board with the backplane. When the ejector handle

is locked, the board is engaged.

11. Fasten the front panel retaining screws.

Warning!

The CP308 front panel cables and, when installed, the RIO transition mod-
ule front panel cables may have power applied which comes from an ex-
ternal source.

In addition, these cables may be connected to devices that can be dam-
aged by electrostatic discharging or short-circuiting of pins.

It is the responsibility of the system designer or integrator to ensure that
appropriate measures are taken to preclude damage to the system or inju-
ry to personnel which may arise from the handling of these cables (con-
necting or disconnecting).

Kontron disclaims all liability for damages or injuries resulting from failure
to comply with the above.

Warning!

Due care should be exercised when handling the board due to the fact that
the heat sink can get very hot. Do not touch the heat sink when changing
the board.

Warning!

When performing the next step, 

DO NOT

 push the board into the back-

plane connectors. Use the ejector handle to seat the board into the back-
plane connectors.
