waist belt, (2) and the leg loops (4),
- lift the harness by the dorsal attachment point (5) and spread out the shoulder straps
(1) – (fig.3).
- Put on the harness as shown in figure 4.
- Attach the automatic buckles (11) and check that they close without any impediment
or difficulty due to mud, dirt or foreign bodies (fig. 5).
- Adjust the harness by tightening the waist belt (2), the leg loops (4) and the shoulder
straps (1) – (fig. 6),
- Position the loops (12) to hold the trailing parts of the sling.
Important:
- Before using the harness, find a completely safe position and carry out movements
and suspension tests on each attachment point to make sure the harness is of the
right size, adjusted properly and comfortable for your intended use.
- Regularly check that the adjustment buckles are closed when in use.
8.2 - USE IN A FALL ARREST SYSTEM
(EN 361)
Important:
The harness is only one component of a fall arrest system and as such
must be connected to other devices (i.e. shock absorbers, ropes, etc.) in order to obtain
a fall arrest system that conforms to the EN 363 standard.
Warning: Only the dorsal
(5) and sternal (6) attachment points - marked by the letter A - are suitable for
this purpose.
Examples of a correct use with connection to the:
- Dorsal attachment point (5) – (fig. 7).
- Sternal attachment point (6) – (fig. 8).
8.3 - USE FOR WORKING POSITIONING AND RESTRAINT
(EN 358)
The ventral (7) and lateral (8) attachment points are suitable both for:
- Preventing the user reaching a dangerous position (fig. 9).
- Holding the user in the working position (work under tension) – (fig. 10).
To reduce the risk of entanglement, when not in use, the two lateral attachment points
can be rotated and secured as shown in figure 11.
Warning
:
Before and during use, check that:
- The anchor point or the structure is always at waist height of higher (fig. 12).
8.4 - USE FOR ROPE ACCESS
(EN 813)
The ventral attachment point (7) is suitable for rope progression (fig. 13).
Examples of correct connections with other devices (fig. 14).
9 - CHECKS BEFORE AND AFTER USE
Check and make sure that:
- The textile parts do not show any signs of tears, burns, chemical residue, excessive
fluff, or wear. Pay special attention to the areas that come into contact with metal parts
(buckles, rings, etc.),
- The stitching is undamaged and that there are no cut or loose threads.
- The buckles work properly (locking, adjustment and locking) and show no signs of
cracks, corrosion and mechanical deformation. Wear is acceptable as long as it is only
aesthetic.
