2. Prepare the Whirlpool
Install the drain to the whirlpool according to the drain manufacturer’s instructions. Do not connect
the trap at this time.
Position a clean drop cloth or similar material in the bottom of the whirlpool. Be careful not to
scratch the surface of the whirlpool.
Mark the supply or mixing valve hole locations on the back of the unit.
Place masking tape on the front of the wall to protect the surface before drilling and cutting the
holes.
From the back side, drill a 1/4
″
(6 mm) diameter pilot hole at each fitting mark.
Cut holes from the front side using a hole saw or saber saw. Use a fine tooth blade (32 teeth per
inch).
3. Install the Whirlpool
CAUTION: Risk of product damage.
When moving the module, do not bend or flex it as damage may
occur.
Carefully move the module into the recess.
Be sure the module is level and plumb. The bottom of the unit must be firmly supported against the
floor. Use shims as needed. No additional support is necessary.
Attach the unit to the 2x2 brace and toe plate.
Use #6 large-head galvanized nails or #8 x 1
″
sheet metal screws to secure the module across the top
and bottom and up both sides.
4. Cut the Pump Banding Straps
IMPORTANT! This step is necessary to make your Kohler whirlpool operate more quietly.
Use tin snips to cut the two pump banding straps from the whirlpool pump.
NOTE: Do not raise the pump higher than it was before you cut the pump banding straps. If the pump is
raised too high, it will not prime properly. Make sure the rubber isolation feet are in place.
To minimize whirlpool noise and vibration, be sure the pump is not in direct contact with the
shipping bracket after the pump banding straps are cut. The pump control contains rubber isolation
feet to reduce pump noise.
