CROSSOVER MODIFICATION FOR BI-AMPING
KI-262 | KI-272 | KI-362
Modifying the full-range internal passive crossovers for bi-amp
operation is relatively simple. On the rear of the input connector panels
are multiple wires that attach the NL-4 connectors to the crossover.
By cutting and securing the two red interconnect wires, the crossover
network will be changed to passive bi-amp mode. The high-frequency
and low-frequency sections will have independent inputs (low
frequency: pins 1+/1- , high-frequency: pins 2+/2-, both connectors).
The signals for each section will still go through the passive network,
which provides component equalization and KLIP-circuit protection.
External, active crossover frequency selection will be required (refer to
specifications on KLIPSCH.COM/PRO for recommended frequencies).
To convert the speaker to passive bi-amp mode, place the speaker face
down, with the input panel facing up. Remove the six screws and lift the
input panel, being careful not to pull the nework too far from the speaker,
as the crossover is still connected to the drivers. Locate the cut the two
red wires on the backside of the input panel, tape over and carefully
locate the ends so that they will not touch the other connections. Replace
the input panel, making sure the the gasket is in place. Test the speaker
through the appropriate inputs to ensure proper operation.
