Set Up Hardware
Set up your hardware connections according to the numbers as indicated in the image below.
Step 1. Connect one end of the RF cable to one of the ports on the shield box and the other end to the
RFIO port on the front panel of X8721A.
In most cases, you will want to connect to the RF port that is connected to the antenna
coupler.
Step 2. Connect a terminator to the unused RF port on the shield box. This is to help maintain the
shielding effectiveness of the enclosure.
Step 3. You may connect either the USB cable (P/N 8121-3190) or the LAN cable to the Host PC.
The X8721A can be remotely controlled over either a USB or LAN interface.
- To use the USB interface, the provided USB cable should be connected to the rear of
the instrument and an unused USB2.0 port.
- For LAN connectivity, the instrument should be connected to the host PC through a
LAN switch or cross-over LAN cable.
Step 4. Connect the external power adapter/power cord to the rear panel and then to the source of
electricity.
Step 5. After you power on the X8721A, allow 15 seconds for your PC to detect the instrument and its
VISA address.
