y
The connection cross-section for the cable for the braking resistor must
correspond at least to the connection cross-section of the supply unit.
Otherwise the cables are to be protected by other, suitable measures.
y
For technical data on the design of the braking resistors, see
“A.1.1 Technical data, brake chopper” in the appendix.
y
The minimum permissible resistance for the braking resistor must not be
infringed. See “A.1.1 Technical data, brake chopper” in the appendix.

4.10 Connection for braking resistor X11
In regenerative operation, e.g. when braking the motors, energy is fed to the DC link in
the multi-axis system and fed back to the mains via the supply unit. If it is not possible
to feed back the electrical power to the mains (e.g. mains failure), the internal braking
transistor is switched on and the regenerated power is converted into heat via a braking
resistor.
The ServoOne CM-A active supply unit in principle requires a braking resistor.
An
external
braking resistor is used.
The braking resistor is connected to connector X11 BR on the top of the
ServoOne CM-L charging module. The shield connection rail (optional) can be used for
strain relief and the connection of the shield on the cable between X11 and the braking
resistor.

Note:
y
If the shield connection rail is not used for strain relief and the connection of the
shield on the cable, then it is to be ensured that strain relief is provided and the
shield connection made as per the regulations for effective EMC installation.
y
It is imperative the installation manual for the braking resistor is followed.
