2.3.4.3. Use of SAE

It  is  recommenced  to  use  sets  of  attachment  elements  during 
flowmeters mounting on pipelines. SAE comprises:

n

SAE 1

 consists of 2 straight sections with the length of 5ND and 

3ND (pipes are in accordance with GOST 8732 (“Seamless hot-
deformed steel pipes. Range of sizes”) or GOST 8734 (“Seamless 
steel tubes cold deformed. Range of sizes”)), 2 screwed caps and 2 
sealing gaskets.

SAE 2

 consists of 2 attachment flanges (in accordance with GOST 

12820 (“Steel plane welded flanges for Pnom from 0,1 to 2,5 MPa

(from 1 to 25 kgf/cm )

Design and dimensions”) or GOST 121821 (“Electrical wires and ca-
bles in general”)), hardware kit (bolts in accordance with GOST 7798 
(“Hexagon bolts, product grade B. Construction and dimensions”), 
screws in accordance with GOST 9515 (“Piston metal rings for piston 
compressors. Specifications”)). 
SAE 2 is used both for KARAT-520-50, -65, -80 flowmeters mounting 
on the pipeline with no cutting-in of straight pipes and for independent 
assembling of straight sections (for the latter case it is recommended 
to  use  pipes  in  accordance  with  GOST  8732,  GOST  8734,  GOST 
3262 (“Water-supply and gas-supply steel pipes”)).
Ready-mounted straight section is a metal pipe with the length of not 
less than 3, 5 or 10 ND. There is a mounting element (nipple or flange) 
on the one end of the straight section and the other end is prepared for 
welding.
Assembling  of  welding  joints  and  dimensions  of  welding  seams 
should meet the requirements of GOST 16037 (“Welded joints in steel 
pipelines.  Main  types,  design  elements  and  dimensions”).  Parallel 
misalignment along straight pipe should be not more than 2 mm for 
200 mm length. Inner diameter of pipe used for independent assem-
bling of straight sections should meet the requirements mentioned in 
table 2.2. Straight pipes appearance is given on figures 2.6 and 2.7.
