g) Restore the left sensor (j5). Remove the right connector (j6) to the temperature sensor on the main
PCB. Start the system (37ºC & 30 mb). Observe that Err 012 is received within approximately 2 min.
and the red LED on main PCB goes off (no heating). When the alarm reset button is pushed, the
temperature display will show “---“, the alarm indicator flash and the system will continue operating
without heating.
h) Short circuit the right connector (j6) on the main PCB. Start the system (37ºC & 30 mb). Observe
that Err 002 is received within approximately 2 min. and the red LED on main PCB goes off (no
heating). When the alarm reset button is pushed, the temperature display will show “---“, the alarm
indicator flash and the system will continue operating without heating.
Restore the sensor connectors.
Check of the fan supervision.
i) Disconnect one fans by removing the flat cable connector no. 3 or 4 (blue cables) from the terminal
block. Start the system with 42ºC & 30 mb. Observe that Err SAFE is received within 10 min. and that
the system starts operate in SAFE mode (the remaining fan operates 100% of the time).
NOTE
! The
system must be in thermal balance (even temperature on both channels) in order for the system to
select the functioning fan. Let the system be switched off for at least 30 min. before this test is carried
out.
7) Measure the power consumption at cold start
Connect a power meter or an ampere meter on the power feed. Start the system with 42ºC & 30 mb.
The system should consume 550W < P < 800W, (2.4 < i < - 3.5 A at 230 VAC) with max. heating and
the compressor operating.
8) Check for air leakage.
With a mattress properly connected, the compressor should operate <5% of the time.
9) Check of pressure sensor calibration
Connect a manometer, for example via a thin metal tube inserted at the mattress connectors. The small
leakage that will occur is compensated by the compressor. Start the system with 37ºC & 35 mb. The
manometer should read 35 mb ± 5 mb.
10) Control of the air (mattress) temperature
With a mattress connected, start the system with 42ºC & 30 mb. Place an accurate thermometer/probe,
preferably an FLUKE 52 II, in good contact with the air stream at the centre of the mattress. Place a
piece of insulating material on top of the probe to ensure good contact with the mattress surface. Cover
the whole mattress with a sheet. The system should operate > 10 min. with the system in thermal
balance (the green temperature indicator permanently lit) before any reading is done. The received
temperature should read set temperature ± 1ºC
