Applying the Dressing
1. Remove the release liner from
the dressing exposing the
adhesive side of the dressing
and the sealing gasket. (Fig. 4)
2. Carefully place the dressing over the wound, ensuring the
absorbent pad is over the wound. (Fig. 5) Once placement
is established, begin sealing the gasket ring, at the dressing
bottom and top. Avoid wrinkling the dressing cover during the
application process, but DO NOT stretch the dressing cover
at the edges as you apply it. (
NOTE
: As the dressing cover is a
semi-occlusive polyurethane, stretching may induce unintended
skin trauma in the peri-wound area, such as dermatitis and/
or blistering.) The gasket is self-sealing, so a small amount of
wrinkling will not necessarily compromise the airtight nature of
the dressing. Do not force the wound dressing into the wound.
(Fig. 6) The application of negative pressure will cause the
dressing to conform to the surface of the wound.
