1.0  Getting Started

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS — SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING (THIS APPLIANCE)

When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury:

• 

Turn off the unit before unplugging. Do not leave appliance when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and 

before servicing.

• 

Connect to a properly grounded outlet only. Do not remove ground pin. See Grounding Instructions below.

• 

Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.

• 

Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer’s recommended attachments.

• 

Inspect cord prior to use. Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, has been 

dropped, damaged, left outdoors or dropped into water, return it to a service center.

• 

Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.

• 

Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do 

not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.

• 

Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.

• 

Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything 

that may reduce air flow.

• 

Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts. Turn off all controls 

before unplugging.

• 

Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.

• 

Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids such as gasoline, or use in areas where they may be present.

• 

Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches or hot ashes.

• 

If using extension cord with appliance, make sure the connection is above the floor and away from exposure to liquid.

• 

Keep all connections dry and off the ground.

• 

To reduce the risk of injury, close supervision is necessary when a product is used near children.

• 

Stay alert - watch what you are doing.

• 

Keep operating area clear of all persons.

• 

The Kaivac shall be disconnected from mains during cleaning or maintenance and when replacing parts or converting 

the machine to another function.

• 

Turn off all controls before unplugging.

• 

DO NOT overreach or stand on unstable support. Keep good footing and balance at all times.

• 

DO NOT operate without the float installed. If float is removed, reinstall by screwing back into place.

• 

Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.

• 

DO NOT leave appliance when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before servicing.

• 

To Reduce The Risk Of Electric Shock - Do not expose to rain. Store indoors.

• 

DO NOT use without dust bag and/or filters in place.

• 

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): It is recommended to wear proper personal protective equipment as required 

by the chemical product label instructions used in conjunction with the appliance.

• 

This product comes with a grounded attachable extension cord. If damaged, replace with equivalent cord.  This cord 

must be attached and mechanically secured using the provided cord connector to use the equipment.

• 

WARNING

Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. 

Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. 

Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance – if it will not fit the outlet; have a proper outlet installed by a 

qualified electrician. 

• 

DO NOT operate the product when fatigued or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

• 

Know how to stop the product and bleed pressures quickly. Be thoroughly familiar with the controls.

• 

Follow the maintenance instructions specified in the manual.
