7. COOLING
• Determining the height and the sections of the ventilation openings
In the generic case of natural cooling (AN), ventilation of the enclosure is designed to dissipate by convection the
calories produced by the total operating losses of the transformer. Good ventilation will be determined by a fresh air
inlet at the lower part of the cabinet and by a hot air outlet opening at the top of the enclosure on the opposite side.
It should be noted that insufficient air circulation results in a reduction in the rated power of the transformer.
• Natural ventilation formula
A1 = 0.18 * P / √H and A2 = 1.10 * A1
P = sum of no load losses and load losses in kW
A1 = Entrance opening surface in m2
A2 = surface of the outlet opening in m2
This formula is valid for an average ambient temperature of 20 ° C and an altitude of 1000m.
•
Forced ventilation
A forced ventilation of the cabinet is required in case of ambient temperature greater than 20 ° C, low or bad ventilation
and / or frequent overloads
The aspirator can be operated by means of a thermostat or a temperature monitor
Recommended flow rate in mc/ s at 20 ° C = 0.05 P P = Total leakage in kW
With the use of fans it is possible to increase the rated power of the transformer up to 30% in continuous operation.
8. ACCESSORIES INCLUDED
• Rating plate
It reports, in accordance with EN standards, the type of transformer, model number, serial number, nominal power,
voltages and primary / secondary currents, short circuit voltage, frequency, connections and connection group , the class
of isolation
• Groun
d clamps
They allow the metal part of the transformer to be connected to the plant earth grid
• Lifting lugs (only some models)
They allow lifting of the complete transformer by hooks using crane or crane
• PT100 probes (on request) or PTC (on request)
To detect the temperatures of the individual windings of the transformers
If installed, refer to the related monitoring unit manual for the relevant connection.
• Electronic monitoring
Relay
It is supplied separately in a package with its own use and installation manual, unless otherwise agreed. It allows the alarm
signal to be actuated and the transformer power disconnected. If installed on the product, it is set at the factory for the
maximum operating temperatures expected for the product. If supplied separately, it must be set at the time of
installation, following the technical information in this manual and in the manual of the control unit. Some thermocouples
do not need further settings.
7. PROTECTIONS OF TRANSFORMERS
•
PREMISE
There are protections designed to prevent from failures and others intended to limit the consequences of failures that
have already occurred, both of them must respect the principle of the selectivity of the protections. The continuity of the
service (it is the safety of personnel handling a plant) can only be achieved by providing a number of suitable protections
in compliance with the applicable laws and regulations in force.
The installation must be performed by a qualified installer and as a result the following points are to be understood only
in general terms.
