Operating Instructions
In addition to the Z2C’s interoperability functions and ability to cross-connect a wide variety of
disparate audio sources, its streamlined Dispatch capability provides one-way communications
(monitoring), and two-way dispatch communications for any number of channels chosen by a
system
Dispatcher
. Any channel can be designated the
Dispatch Source
(or Dispatcher), and
Dispatch is totally separate from the communications underway in the interoperability nets.
Complementing its dispatch and net capabilities, the Z2C also offers independent Monitors. This
efficient feature provides flexible communications supervision and monitoring that is separate
from traditional interoperability nets and dispatch.
Recording an interoperability net or
Dispatch Area’s
audio is another resourceful capability
available on the Z2C. Whether the recorded audio is used for active review or simply as part of
a best practices initiative, the easy-to-use Z2C recorder channels provide a streamlined
mechanism for secure, off-site recording that can be accessed from anywhere.
Modern communications interoperability nets, dispatch, monitors, recording capability, and
channel configuration are all simplified for the operator who accesses the Z2C using its Graphical
User Interface (GUI) from any standards-compliant web browser on a computer or touchscreen
device.
The following Operating Instructions assume that the Z2C has already been configured and is
now in operation. See Section 5
or the context-sensitive help for
configuration assistance, if required.

Home Screen Elements
The following figure shows the
Home Page
for a configured Z2C, with several nets in place.
The USB headset, which was plugged in prior to power-up, is located in the
Local Resources
section. Below that are the configured
Remote Resources
. These are virtual streaming channels
that use JPS RoIP or JPS Bridge protocols to connect audio resources to the Z2C. Green lights
indicate an active network link.
The
Dispatch
area and the
Monitors
area are open but are not populated at this time. The icons
in the headers of nets 1 and 2 indicate that net
Recording
is enabled and is actively recording
net 1 but is not recording net 2 at this time. An empty interoperability net is available; drag and
drop resource icons into it from either the
Resources
area or from another net. Channel resource
icons in the
Resources
area can also be right clicked to
Put in next Net
.
