Errors
During the operation of the VERITAS
™
Vision System, various errors may be displayed to
indicate a fault that can affect the system. When errors are detected, the following occurs:
• A tone is generated.
• A message is displayed indicating the error.
• Depending on the error, the system may go into a safe state without user intervention:

Phaco, I/A, Vitrectomy, and Diathermy functions are disabled when required.

For certain errors, the Irrigation valve is automatically opened to the balanced salt
solution and the aspiration path is vented ensuring that there is no residual vacuum and
chamber pressure is maintained in the eye during the error state.

For other safe state errors, the foot pedal can be used to open the Irrigation valve to
balanced salt solution and the aspiration path is vented ensuring there is no residual
vacuum, and chamber pressure is maintained in the eye during the error state. In this
state, all the surgical modes become inoperative.
Most Common User-Correctable Problems
Use the information in this section if you are not successful with the system check-out.
Consult this section to resolve the problem before you call JJSV for technical service:
• Ensure the system is plugged into a power receptacle.
• Ensure there is electrical power to the receptacle.
• If there is no phacoemulsification, ensure the phaco tip is tight on the handpiece.
• If there is no phacoemulsification, ensure the phaco tip is compatible with the handpiece
(for example, non-JJSV phaco tip on an JJSV handpiece).
