INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY INFORMATION
Contact your local retailer or distributor for information regarding any warranties
covering your Helios.
Do not modify the appliance. The Helios must only be serviced by an authorized
person. Return to your local retailer or distributor if a fault cannot be corrected
using these instructions.
Test igniter (9.5) before opening valve. If it does not spark, refer to troubleshoot-
ing section. To ignite, repeatedly press igniter button (9.5) while slowly turning
control valve (5.1) ½ turn counterclockwise to open. Press igniter until flame is
observed. Using control valve (5.1), adjust flame to low-to-medium setting before
placing pot onto burner.
CAUTION: In cold weather Helios may flare for the first 15-30 seconds of use.
`
Ignite burner before placing pot on
burner.
Keep burner at arm’s length, away
from face, during ignition. Flame can erupt
and flare during ignition.
You can be seriously burned.
WARNING
^
DANGER
^
`
If you smell gas before control valve is
opened,
do not attempt to ignite burner
.
Never expose stove to flammable vapors or
liquids while lighting the burner.
It can cause an explosion or fire.
Ensure control valve is closed (turn clock-
wise), and fuel canister is screwed on tightly.
If smell of gas persists, disconnect fuel
canister and refer to troubleshooting section.
Do not modify this appliance. This appliance must only be serviced by an autho-
rized person. If an issue cannot be corrected using these instructions, see Limited
Warranty below.
Abnormal Burner Operation
:
check to ensure that the mix tube is free from de-
bris to provide proper combustion air, and that exhaust gas is allowed to properly
vent. When firing properly, the flame should appear blue to slightly turquoise in
color. Never use solvents or any other cleaning agents on the burner assembly.
Cleaning the Orifice
:
Close the gas control valve (9.8) and detach fuel canister
(8.2). Detach igniter (4.4) from burner carrier. Loosen the knurled knob (3.5) until
it is free. Pull the burner (4.2) away from the brass tube. Use an 8mm wrench
to remove orifice. Grip the brass tube at the small end to avoid bending the
brass tube. Clean out the orifice by blowing through the small hole from the top.
DO NOT use a pin or sharp object to clear the hole, it may damage the orifice,
making the appliance unsafe. Tighten the orifice back into place with the 8mm
wrench, taking care not to bend the brass tube. Reassemble burner, tighten
knurled knob, attach the igniter, and check for leaks. If problem continues,
replace orifice with a new one (available in Helios Maintenance Kit (SOLD
SEPARATELY)).
Replacing the O-ring
:
If the O-ring (5.2) is damaged or cracked, replace it (avail-
able in Helios Maintenance Kit (SOLD SEPARATELY)).
Ignition failure
:
Make fine adjustments to the igniter wire with pliers so that tip is 3-
6mm above burner head (4.2). If igniter fails to spark, replace with new igniter (avail-
able in Helios Maintenance Kit (SOLD SEPARATELY)) or use matches or a lighter.
Flame does not extinguish
:
Valve is damaged. Tighten valve as much as pos-
sible, blow out flame, and immediately detach fuel cartridge. Return to dealer.
IMPORTANT: REMOVE PLASTIC COVER (1.2) FROM BOTTOM OF POT. Add
liquid or liquid food to cooking pot. When frying foods with low moisture content,
take extra caution, always use low heat, and remove the pot cozy (9.11) before
use.
Never ignite or operate appliance without contents in the cooking pot
.
Center pot on pot supports (4.3).
NEVER PLACE POT DIRECTLY ONTO BASE,
ALWAYS USE POT SUPPORTS
. All pot supports should be inside FluxRing®.
The pot handles (9.10) should be extended and should not touch the vessel while
stove is lit. Pot handles can get very hot if left folded during operation. Rest lid
(9.1) upside down on top of cooking pot during heating.
When heating liquids
near max. capacity, use only low flame settings, and exercise caution to
prevent boil-over.
`
Do not move, lift, or tilt burner while lit.
Fuel can spray and cause flare-ups.
You can be seriously burned.
`
Use extreme caution
when heating liquids
or liquid foods near maximum capacity of
pot. Boil over can result.
You can be seriously burned.
WARNING
^
Helios is compatible with normal, flat-bottomed cookware. If using cookware
other than the Helios 2 liter or 3 liter pot, DO NOT USE THE WINDSCREEN. The
windscreen is
not designed
for use with other stoves, or non-Helios cookware,
and could singe and/or melt. NEVER USE THE WINDSCREEN WITH STOVES
OTHER THAN HELIOS. Helios is not compatible with the Jetboil 1.5 liter pot,
FluxRing® Fry Pan, or the PCS Companion Cup.
Turn control valve (5.1) clockwise and tighten to extinguish flame and prevent gas
leak. Fuel will remain in the remote feed hose for approximately 15 seconds. Al-
low the fuel to burn out as the feed line drains. Remove pot (1.3) from base (3.3)
using handles (9.10).
If using the Helios 3 liter pot, also use the opposing
side “flip-up” handle when lifting the pot.
DO NOT TOUCH UNCOVERED
METAL PARTS. THEY WILL BE HOT. Once the pot (1.3) is removed from heat,
the plastic cover (1.2) can be placed on pot bottom to protect the FluxRing® and
maintain temperature. After use, allow the pot to cool, then clean and dry it.
ALWAYS CHECK THAT THE BURNER (3.2) IS EXTINGUISHED BEFORE
D
ISCONNECTING THE FUEL CANISTER (8.2). After use rotate fuel canister
upright and unscrew it.
Always disconnect fuel canister from control valve
before storing it.
Replace plastive cap (8.1) on canister. Remove valve from fuel
canister stand (7) and fold canister stand. A
LLOW HELIOS TO COOL BEFORE
TOUCHING EXPOSED METAL PARTS. Unsnap windscreen (9.3) from base
(3.3). Remove burner from base by unsnapping large tabs (4.2), then unhook
(4.1) and pull through base (3). Fold pot supports back to storage position (3.6).
Place base in pot upside down (2). Curl windscreen to fit around outside of base
and inside of pot. Set fuel canister upright in groove on underside of base. Place
burner into pot so that it faces the fuel canister, with the feed hose on top. Curl
feed hose and valve around the fuel can. AVOID TWISTING OR KINKING FLEX-
IBLE HOSE. KINKS MAY CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE. Set canister stand in an
available spot. Press lid into place (1).
STORAGE AFTER USE
`
Fuel will remain in the feed line for a short
time after closing the control valve. WAIT
UNTIL FLAME IS FULLY EXTINGUISHED
BEFORE HANDLING BURNER BASE.
CAUTION
^
`
Warm fuel canisters can cause ignition flar
-
ing in cold weather. If using a warm fuel can-
ister in cold conditions, take extra caution.
You can be seriously burned.
WARNING
