Operating Instructions for retraction roller gear
General
Read these instructions before you install, maintain or repair the gear boxes. Rotating
shafts and hot parts could cause injury. All work has to be carried out by qualified
personal only. Relevant safety regulations must be obeyed.
Claims under guarantee can only be met if these instructions are complied with.
We declare that the gear boxes are intendet to be built into a machine. The
comissioning of this machine is forbidden until it is proven that the machine, into wich
the gear boxes have to be incorporated, complies with the EEC-directive.
Transport and storage
Make sure that the gear boxes have not been damaged in transit. Damaged gear boxes
should not be installed. Lift gear boxes only on lifting eyes without adding other weights.
Falling gear boxes could cause injury.
Store gear boxes in dry and dust-free areas. If gear boxes should be stored longer than
6 months, storage preparation will be necessary.
Mounting and Installation
Cooling air flow must be possible without any resistance. In case of water cooling the
parameters should be chosen to reach an oil temperature of 85°C in the oil sump.
Drive components
Take care that the permissible redial or axial shaft loads are not exceeded.
To mount drive components remove anti-corrosion paint from shaft extension by means
of a suitable solvent. This should be done carefully because the solvent may damage
the shaft seal. For better mounting and to avoid freeting corrosion grease the shaft end.
Heat the drive component to 80°C if necessary.
Contact areas of shrink discs must be free of grease.
Mount the drive components with the thread in the shaft end. By no means may thje
bearings in the gear box be subjected to any pressure or shock. Drive components
running at a high speed should be dynamically balanced. Use elastic couplings only.
With rigid couplings additional loads on the shaft bearings occur.
Position pulleys, pinions etc as close as possible to the shaft bearings.
Avoid additional loads from shaft mounted gear boxes by incorrect mounting. Pay
attention to coaxial tolerances between output shaft and flange.
If this model has an arrow, make sure it is pointing in the direction of rotation.
Drive components must be covered by a safety device.
Painting
Name plates, valves and shaft seals should not be painted. If there are any problems
with additional paintings please contact us.
Noise level
The noise levels for your gear boxes are below the 50%-line quoted in VDI 2159. If there
are extreme requirements regarding noise levels please contact us. Formodels with a
noise cab the gear box temperature has to be observed.
