Towing/lifting the vehicle

5.1.5 Using the towing attachment

The vehicle is equipped with a towing attachment which can be
used to move it if it breaks down.
The towing attachments are fitted under the front and rear bumper.

IMPORTANT:
Stay clear of the towing and towed vehicles, if connected using the
towing attachment.

Do not use a chain with a towing attachment. The chains could
brake causing serious injury or fatal accidents.

Do not use a towing chain with a towing attachment.

The towing belts may break or disconnect causing serious or
even fatal injury.

Failure to respect correct use of the towing attachment could
cause the breakage of components and consequence serious
or even fatal injury.

The power steering and braking systems will not work while
towing the vehicle. It will therefore be necessary to apply more
force to the brake pedal and steering wheel. Do not use flexible
ropes when towing, and avoid jerks. Do not start the engine
while towing the vehicle. Before tightening the ring, clean the
threaded housing thoroughly. Make sure the ring is fully
screwed into place before towing the vehicle.

IMPORTANT!

The towing attachment must be used for on-road emergencies
only. Use a suitable device conforming with the highway code
(rigid bar) to manoeuvre the vehicle to prepare for transport on
a tow truck.

The towing attachment must not be used to move the vehicle
on the road or in presence of obstacles.

Do not use the towing attachments to couple to a tow truck or
for towing on the motorway.

Do not use the towing attachment to free a bogged-down
vehicle.

NOTE
Check that the towing attachment is correctly fitted.
Do not use the towing attachment to tow the vehicle on a flatbed tow
truck.
