Specifying test configuration settings

12 If the WAN MODE is set to PPPoA or PPPoE, additional settings must be
specified.
a Enter the User Name .
This must be a valid user account with an ISP.
b Enter the Password .
This must be a valid password that matches the user name above.
Passwords are often case-sensitive.
c Select the AUTH (authentication) MODE .
– Auto (the ADSL/Copper Tester picks the mode that matches the far
end mode)
– PAP (Password Authentication Protocol)
– CHAP (Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol)
13 Select the WAN MAC type: DEFAULT or USER DEFINED.
If you selected USER DEFINED as the WAN MAC type, enter the WAN
MAC address.
14 Select GRAPH and specify whether to display the graph for NOISE or
SNR per bin.
Only two graphs are available at one time: BPT and either SNR or Noise.
The WAN settings are configured.
Specifying LAN settings
The following procedure describes how to specify settings that characterize the
local area network (LAN) interface you are testing.
To specify LAN settings
1 Select MODEM TEST from the Main Menu.
2 Select SETUP .
3 Select LAN SETUP .
4 Select whether to enable or disable the INTERFACE .
The default is ENABLE.
5 Select whether the LAN IP configuration is static or dynamic (DHCP).
6 If you are using a static configuration, enter the LAN IP address and LAN
NETMASK .
7 Enter the DHCP START address.
If DHCP Server is enabled below, this is the starting IP address for the
tester’s DHCP server.
8 If using a static configuration, enter the GATEWAY IP address.
9 Select DHCP SERVER and enable or disable the tester’s DHCP server.
NOTE:
When the WAN interface is using DHCP configuration, you can not config-
ure the LAN interface by DHCP. However, the DHCP Server may be used
for attached devices on the LAN interface (“through” mode).
