VEGA™ Series Banknote Validator Calibration
and
Testing
10. Confirm that the Front Panel LED is slowly flash-
ing at a
Blue
Color rate, remove the White Refer-
ence Paper from the Transport Section.
11. Set the Black Reference Paper in place (See
“Placing Reference Paper” on page 6-5).
12. Set DIP Switch DS2 Switch #3 to
ON
to begin the
Validation Sensor Calibration with the Black Ref-
erence Paper. During the adjustment process, the
Blue
LED will momentarily flash at high rate of
speed.
13. Once the Validation Sensor Calibration with the
Black Reference Paper is complete, the Front
Panel LED slowly flashes at a
Purple
Color rate.
14. Confirm that the Front Panel LED is slowly flash-
ing at a
Purple
Color rate, remove the Black Ref-
erence Paper from the Transport Section.
15. Set DIP Switch DS2 Switch #4 to
ON
to begin the
Validation Sensor Calibration without the Refer-
ence Paper. During the adjustment process, the
Purple
LED will momentarily flash at high rate of
speed.
16. Once the Validation Sensor Calibration without
the Reference Paper is complete, the Front Panel
LED slowly flashes at a
Green
Color rate.
17. Set DIP Switch DS2 Switch #5 to
ON
to begin the
Side Sensor Calibration without the Reference
Paper. During the adjustment process, the
Green
LED will momentarily flash at high rate of speed.
18. Once the Side Sensor Calibration without the
Reference Paper is complete, the Front Panel
LED slowly flashes at a
Yellow
Color rate.
19. Set DIP Switch DS2 Switches #1, #2, #3, #4 and
#5 to
OFF
in order to write these adjustment
results into the VEGA Unit EEPROM Memory.
While writing the data to EEPROM, the Front
Panel LED will flash a
Yellow
Color at a high rate
of speed.
20. Once the data writing procedure is complete, the
Front Panel LED flashes at a
Green
Color rate.
21. Turn the VEGA Unit power switch
OFF
.
This completes the Reference Paper Calibration
procedures.
Performance Tests
The VEGA Unit provides Self-diagnostic Perfor-
mance Tests that can be performed by the User. The
following content information provides a summary
of the VEGA Performance Tests available for use.
Performance Test Activation
Perform the following steps to activate the VEGA
Unit’s self contained Performance Tests:
1. Confirm that the interconnection for performing
the VEGA Performance Tests referring illustra-
tion shown in Figure 6-89.
2. Set DIP Switch Block 1 Switch #1 to
ON
.
NOTE: Keep DIP Switch Block 2
Switch #1, #2 and #3 ON until
instructed to turn the switches to OFF.
NOTE: Keep DIP Switch Block 2
Switch #1, #2, #3 and #4 ON until
instructed to turn the switches to OFF.
NOTE: Keep DIP Switch Block 2
Switch #1, #2, #3, #4 and #5 ON
until instructed to turn the switches to
OFF.
NOTE: If EEPROM data writing fails,
all previous adjustment data will be
lost which may disable VEGA Unit
performance.

Red LED Flash Rate Errors
LED
Color
Flash
Sequence
Description
Red
1 time
The Entrance Sensor adjustment has
failed.
2 times
The Entrance Sensor adjustment using
White Reference paper has failed.
3 times
The Validation Sensor adjustment using
Black Reference paper has failed.
4 times
The Validation Sensor Calibration
without Reference Paper has failed.
5 times
The Edge Sensor adjustment has
failed.
6 times
The EEPROM data writing process has
failed.
NOTE: If the adjustment of ANY
Sensor fails, the Front Panel LED
will flash
RED
. If this error condition
occurs, ensure that the procedures
were correctly performed, and then
perform them again. Refer to Table
6-1 for a detailed explanation of each
RED
Color flash sequence.
