8.1.4 Pack bearings and bushing (items 6, 8 and
41) and gear teeth (items 9 and 88) with
grease.
8.1.5 Before assembling with other parts, individ-
ually coat with grease the sliding surfaces of
items 5, 7, 9, 28, 39 and 43.
9 MOTOR AND SWITCH DISASSEMBLY:
9.1 Remove blade and support. See sections 2 and
4.
9.2 Mount saw on fixture 8039075 upside down.
9.3 Remove bottom cover screws (item 31), ser-
rated lock washers (item 32), cover (item 26)
and gasket (item 25).
9.4 Remove screws (items 87 and 97) and lock
washers (item 35) from inside and outside
crankcase (item 15).
9.5 Pull motor assembly away from crankcase as-
sembly.
9.6 Remove brush covers (item 76), brush cover
gaskets (item 77), brush holders (item 78) and
brushes (item 79).
9.7 Remove (4) screws (item 67) and separate rear
handle from motor housing (item 81).
9.8 Remove (4) screws (item 74) and separate two
halves of rear handle.
9.9 Disconnect stator leads and capacitor wires at
electric switch (item 68).
9.10 Remove (2) screws (item 73), cord clamp (item
72), strain relief (item 99) and power cord (item
100).
9.11 Remove rear motor cover (item 70).
9.11.1
Do not pry
between the rear motor cover and
motor housing (item 81). Just pull gently.
9.12 Remove (4) screws (item 92) and pull armature
(item 96), fan guard (item 94) and fan housing
(item 93) out of motor housing as an assembly.
9.13 Lift off air ring disk (item 85).
9.14 Grasp armature (item 96) and insert 6mm hex
key into pinion gear (item 88). Unscrew gear to
separate it from from armature and to free fan
guard and fan housing.
9.15 Remove retaining ring (item 90) to release front
motor bearing (item 91).
9.16 Inspect parts for wear and replace if necessary.
10 MOTOR AND SWITCH ASSEMBLY:
10.1 Reverse steps and procedures outlined in step 9.
See notes below:
10.1.1 Feed wires from stator (item 83) through
hole in motor housing (item 81) and into
rear handle (items 65 and 71).
11 CRANKCASE ASSEMBLY:
11.1 Reverse steps and procedures outlined in step 6.
See notes below:
11.1.1 After assembling motor ensure that arma-
ture rotates freely by hand.
Do not apply
power to a binding armature.
11.1.2 Pack teeth of gears (items 9 and 88) with
grease.
11.1.3 After installing lower mechanism in hous-
ing ensure that armature rotates and linkage
slides freely by hand.
Do not apply power to
a binding mechanism.
11.1.4 Reinstall brushes in the same brush holder
and in the same position from which they
were removed.
11.1.5 Reattach capacitor (item 66) to stator side of
switch (item 68).
