3.1.2 Use soft mallet to tap end of blade toward
body of saw until the crimp in the blade
slides into the slot in the blade support.
3.1.3 Align holes in blade and drive ram (item
39).
3.1.4 Install two (2) socket head cap screws (item
38) and two (2) hex lock nuts (item 42) to
fasten blade.
Be sure to firmly tighten
screws and lock nuts.
3.2 END GUIDED BLADE:
3.2.1 Insert slotted end of blade (item 58) into the
tabs on the blade support (item 57) end
guides.
3.2.2 Rotate blade until it is parallel to the blade
support.
3.2.3 Align holes in blade and drive ram (item
39).
3.2.4 Install two (2) socket head cap screws (item
38) and two (2) hex lock nuts (item 42) to
fasten blade.
Be sure to firmly tighten screws
and lock nuts.
4 BLADE SUPPORT DISASSEMBLY:
4.1 Remove two (2) acorn nuts (item 11), lock wash-
ers (item 12), hex flange head screw (item 23)
and blade support bushings (item 22).
4.2 Remove blade support.
4.3 Inspect parts for wear and replace if necessary.
5 BLADE SUPPORT ASSEMBLY:
5.1 Reverse the steps and procedures outlined in
step 4. See notes below.
5.1.1 Ensure that holes in crankcase (item 15) and
blade support are aligned.
5.1.2 Blade support bushings (item 22) are a close
fit to crankcase (item 15) and light tapping
with a mallet may be required to install.
6 CRANKCASE DISASSEMBLY:
6.1 Remove blade and blade support as described in
sections 2 and 4.
6.2 Remove eight (8) flat head screws (item 31),
eight (8) serrated lock washers (item 32), crank-
case cover (item 26) and gasket (item 25).
6.3 Assembly fixture,
Jarvis
part number 8039075,
is available to hold saw upside down.
6.4 Scoop out grease and discard.
6.5 Remove four (4) hex head screws (item 34), lock
washers (item 35), plate (item 36) and o- ring
(item 37) from front of saw.
6.6 Remove six (6) cheese head screws (item 1), six
(6) lock washers (item 2) and two (2) bearing
clamps (item 3).
6.7 Grasp bushing (item 43) and crown gear (item 9)
and lift entire lower mechanism out of crankcase
(item 15) as a unit.
6.8 Turn saw right side up.
7 CONNECTING ROD DISASSEMBLY:
7.1 Slide bushing (item 43) straight off drive ram
(item 39).
7.2 Remove and discard two (2) retaining rings
(item 4).
7.3 Remove four (4) shim washers (item 5) and two
(2) connecting rods (item 7) from connecting
pins (item 27).
7.4 Remove and discard retaining ring (item 29)
from connecting pin (item 27) in counterweight
piston (item 28).
7.5 Press out connecting pin (item 27) in counter-
weight piston (item 28).
7.6 Remove and discard retaining ring (item 29)
from connecting pin (item 27) in drive ram (item
39).
7.7 Press out connecting pin (item 27) in drive ram
(item 39).
Be careful not to bend “fork” on drive
ram.
7.7.1 Assembly tool,
Jarvis
part number
8039082, is available to aid in disassembly.
7.8 Inspect parts for wear and replace if necessary.
8 CONNECTING LINK ASSEMBLY:
8.1 Reverse steps and procedures outlined in step 7.
See notes below:
8.1.1 Head of connecting pins (item 27) must seat
in counterbores of counterweight piston
(item 28) and drive ram (item 39).
8.1.2 When pressing connecting pin (item 27)
into drive ram (item 39) be careful not to
bend “fork” on drive ram.
8.1.2.1 Assembly tool,
Jarvis
part number
8039082, is available.
8.1.3 Retaining rings (items 4 and 29) must be
discarded once they have been removed.
Do
not reuse them.
