Displacement measuring system (Ott-Jakob)
Example of design: Target ring/
sensor

Target ring

Sensor
A cylindrical, inductive analog sensor is located in the unclamp unit.
In this analog sensor the tie rod connection moves in an axial direction. A tar-
get ring sits on the tie rod connection, and is responsible for the change of
output signal. The signal increases (as seen from the cable exit) as the immer-
sion depth of the target ring increases.
q
The signal is also available during rotation.
q
The sensor electronics convert the signal from the sensor into an analog
output signal.
Ä
4-20 mA / 2-10 V
q
The output signal can be analyzed digitally with the position controller (ac-
cessory).
