3.15 CUTTING MODES __________________________________________________________
1. The mo wer may be oper ated in the F ixed Mo de or
the Floating Mode.
2. Fixed M ode is gen erally use d fo r c utting heights
greater than 1 in. (25 mm) and the mower does not
require a fr ont roller unless the terrain is rough and
uneven.
If a front roller is required, the roller should be raised
1/4 in. (6 mm) higher than the rear roller and used for
anti-scalp purposes only.
3. Floating Mod e is gen erally used for cutting heights
less th an one i nch ( 25 mm ) an d a fr ont r oller is
required.
If a 2-1/2 in. (63 mm ) s olid fr ont r oller is us ed, the
cutting hei ght will range fr om 3/8 to 2- 1/8 in. ( 9 to
54 mm).
If a 3 in . ( 76 mm) gr ooved fr ont r oller is us ed, th e
cutting hei ght will range fr om 3/8 to 2- 1/4 in. ( 9 to
57 mm).
4. To convert the mower from Fixed to F loating Mode,
remove h ardware (

) fr om e ach si de o f the th ree
mower frames.
Install a front roller and store hardware (
H
) for future
conversion to fixed mode.
5. To convert the mower from Floating to Fixed Mode,
assemble har dware (
H
) as shown and r emove or
raise the front roller.

3.16 CUTTING HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT _____________________________________________
1. Raise and lock the lift arms in transport mode.
2. For easier ac cess to the he ight adjusters on th e
motor end of the front reels, Jacobsen recommends
raising the front end of the mower just a fe w inches
off the ground then, being careful not to damage the
hydraulic hos es, tilt the front mowe rs 90 deg rees,
and tether the mowers together.
3. On t he r ear mower ( center) r emove t he pi n a nd
collar on the shaft and slide the mower backwards.

before
making the cutting
height adjustment.
5. Select F ixed or Floating Mod e and co nvert the
mower accordingly.
