5.21 FOLDING ROPS _______________________________________________________
A folding Roll Over Protective Structure (ROPS) is included with this mower. Inspect the ROPS as indicated in
the Maintenance chart for loose hardware or damage.
Inspect the seat, as indicated in the Maintenance chart, seat belt, ROPS mounting hardware and ROPS frame for
damage. Replace all damaged parts immediately. All The replacement parts for the ROPS must be approved
Ransomes Jacobsen Limited parts as shown in the Parts Manual.
Check and torque all ROPS hardware as indicated in the
Maintenance chart.
Do not operate the mower with the ROPS in the folded
position.
How to fold the ROPS.
a
Remove the ‘R’ pin and the lock pin from both sides of
the ROPS.

Fold the ROPS toward the mower hood.

Assemble the ROPS ‘R’ pin and The lock pin to hold the ROPS in the folded position. Never wear the seat
belt with the ROPS in the folded position.
CAUTION
Check the ROPS fasteners before use. Do no welding to any part of the ROPS. Do not change the
ROPS structure. Replace damaged ROPS. Do not try to correct a damaged ROPS.
WARNING
There is no turn over protection with the ROPS in the
folded position.
DANGER
The seat belt must always be worn. The ROPS frame must be in the position for operation. This
instruction is given to meet:
The Machinery Directive, 2006/42/EC sections 3.2.2, seating & 3.4.3, rollover. (ANSI B71.4-2012 section
20.7)
Ransomes Jacobsen Limited. recommend that the owner operator of the machine complete a local risk
assessment on the machine to find any conditions that do not follow this rule.
WARNING
To prevent injury when you fold the ROPS, use caution. When you fold the ROPS, the weight of the
ROPS can be difficult to control. Be careful when you fold the ROPS, there is a risk of injury. Always
wear the seat belt with the ROPS frame in the vertical and locked position.
NOTICE
To prevent damage to the ROPS or the mower hood, do not operate without the ROPS frame locked in
the vertical or folded position.
