The mower

is raised

or lowered

manually

by the

implement Ii.ft handle.

Moving thelift

handle rearward

as far aspossible and locking the handle inthe nearest

notch inthe quadrant

(See Fig. 4) places the mower

in

the transport

position.

Moving the handle forward

lowers the mower

to the cutting

positions.

ELECTRIC CLUTCH

The electric clutch engages anddisengages

OPERATION

CUTTER BAR

Before each use of the mower, examine the cutter

bar to

make sure it

is in good operating

condition.

Lay the

machine onits side and check asfollows:

A

WARNING

To avoid possible

serious

bodily

injury completely detach the mower

from the

tractor before doing any

maintenance

onthe mower.

1. Thecutter bar should follow along a straight line and

should not be bent. The bar can be checkedwitha
straightedge.

6

2. If the cutter

baris bent

asmay happen if

it strikes a

curb, survey stake or other object,

it should

be

replaced as it

may be damaged.

Thedamage might

be a microscopic crackwhichcould grow,

allowing a

piece of the barto break off

and bethrown out

from

under the mower, causing serious bodily injury

(See

"B", Fig. 6).

3. Examine theends of

the cutter barandthe transition

between the turned upair

vanes andthe flat

part on

the side awayfrom thegrass.

When cutting grass in

dry or sandy soil, abrasive dust of sand particles

can

wear away the metal

connecting

thevanesand the

flat part (See "A", Fig. 6). If aslot

forms ina bar as

shown in "B",

Fig. 6,the bar should be replaced.

4. If the wear is allowed

totake place for

along time,

the slot will grow, permitting

apiece of

the vane to

break off the bar

and be thrown

from the mower,

causing possible

serious bodily injury.
