Two  side  ports  are  provided  on  each  valve.    The  upper  port  is  called  the  gauge  port  and  the
lower port is called a pressure relief port.  After gaining a familiarity with the pipeline conditions
and your Vent-Tech valve, these ports utilized together can serve as flushing ports to flush the
valve without requiring disassembly and re-assembly of the valve.  Using the upper port as the
inlet and the lower port as the outlet, a certified system maintenance mechanic can:

Close the isolation valve and depressurize the valve.

Flush a stream of water with a maximum recommended temperature of 160o F through the
valve.  In the rare occasion where temperatures above 180

o

 F are beneficial, please contact

IVM engineering.

[email protected]

Continue flushing the valve until water runs clear

Consult local requirements for handling of pipeline emissions.

An example maintenance worksheet is included in the Addendum at the end of this manual
