10.5 Installing/Replacing Adjustable Back Upholstery
Installing Adjustable Back Upholstery
1.
Remove the existing back upholstery from the wheelchair. Refer to Removing/Installing Standard Back Upholstery. on page 75.
2.
Slide each anchor loop/adjuster strap section (A) onto the back canes (B) with the grommet holes (C) facing the rear of the wheelchair.
3.
Secure each anchor loop/adjuster strap section to the back canes with the two mounting screws and washers (D).
4.
Slip adjuster straps (E) through corresponding anchor loops and adjust the back upholstery. Secure with the fastening straps.
5.
Secure the fastening straps (F) of the back upholstery cover (G) to the fastening straps (H) of each anchor loop/fastening strap section.
6.
Flip the back upholstery cover over both anchor loop/fastening strap sections and secure the fastening straps on the front.
7.
Lay the front portion of the back upholstery cover on the seat upholstery.
8.
Adjust the slack in the back upholstery cover and then secure to the seat upholstery.
Replacing Adjustable Back Upholstery
1.
Lift up on the existing back upholstery cover (G) and remove the cover from the wheelchair.
2.
Remove the two mounting screws and washers (D) that secure each anchor loop/fastening strap section to the back canes.
3.
Slide each anchor loop/adjuster strap section off of the back canes.
4.
Install new adjustable back upholstery. Refer to Installing Adjustable Back Upholstery on page 76.
Clean the upholstery with warm water and mild detergent to remove superficial soil.
WARNING
After the adjustable back upholstery has been positioned to the end-users individual needs, the fastening straps MUST be
securely fastened before applying the back upholstery cover. The adjustable back should be checked whenever entering the
wheelchair to ensure that the fastening straps are securely fastened.
