Inteset Systems CIR2-01 Consumer Infrared Receiver User Manual
3
USING THE REMOTE CONTROL
After the Nuvoton (Winbond) driver is installed, the CIR acts as a fully functional Microsoft
eHome RC6 IR receiver. This not only frees up a USB port and allows for a cleaner install
because the receiver is mounted inside the chassis, but also includes features not
supported by standard USB receivers - wake from off (S5), hibernate (S4) and standby (S3).
Now your HTPC can use the same power management as a typical CE device.
You now can use the remote control to interact with the features in Media Center. No further
software or setup procedure is required. Just point the remote control at the receiver, and
then enter your commands.
TROUBLESHOOTING
When you press a button on the remote, but nothing happens. Make sure that the following
is true:
You are pointing the remote control directly at the receiver.
The IR sensor on the receiver is not covered up, and no natural or artificial light is
shining directly on it.
The remote control is within 30 feet of the receiver and no more than 45 degrees to
the side of where the receiver is pointing.
You have downloaded and activated the CIR drivers.
You have enabled the CIR in your BIOS. You have the latest BIOS for your MB.
If you ordered an Inteset remote with your CIR test it on another RC6 protocol
device to be sure that it is working properly.
The red LED on the CIR may not flash as the drivers for the ASRock motherboards
are supplied by Intel. Only the latest Intel motherboards have the updated drivers
that cause the red LED to flash when it receives a signal from the remote. Intel is
aware of this issue.
