Inteset Systems CIR2-01 Consumer Infrared Receiver User Manual
1
Welcome
Congratulations on your purchase of the Inteset Consumer Infrared Receiver (CIR) for
Windows MCE and compatible operating systems and media applications. Your infrared (IR)
remote control and receiver let you access and manage your Media Center PC and other
peripheral devices. This CIR will work with any Remote that uses the RC6 Signal Protocol.
Important: When installing your new CIR you must power off your PC and disconnect
the power from your power supply.
STEP 1
Locate and Mount your Mounting Bracket
Find an appropriate location to mount your CIR. You may use double stick tape to attach the
bracket to the inside front of your case or you can attach the bracket using the two size 4-40
threaded machine screw holes in the front of the bracket. The double stick tape and
machine screws for attaching your bracket are not provided.
1.1
Use a location inside your case that will allow you to drill a hole about 1/8” in
diameter for the receiver to “see” your remote
1.2
Attach the CIR to the mounting bracket using the hardware provided.
1.3
It is critical that the solder pins on the bottom of the CIR board do not touch the
bracket. This will short out the CIR. Use the washers provided to insure that a small
amount of space exists between the pins and the bracket. Place some black
electrical tape on the bracket if there is any concern about the pins touching.
1.4
The round “bump” on the black receiver component of your CIR must be visible
through the hole in your case.
1.5
Mount the “bump” as close to the hole you drilled as possible so that it can look out
the hole.
1.6
For optimum performance, make sure that the distance between the remote control
and the CIR does not exceed 30 feet. Keep a direct, unobstructed line of sight
between the receiver and the remote control, and don’t let any natural or artificial
light shine directly on the receiver’s IR sensor.
