require the speckle pattern and you do not need to apply any dots.
If you choose Speckle only, note the following:
•
Do not create a measurement based on AVE2.
• Do not set the AVE2 as the strain source for the test method.
• Do not enable auto-balance on the AVE2.
To use DIC Replay software to analyze images
1. Select in the console area to open System Details.
2. Select the video extensometer icon under System Settings to open the Transducer
Settings dialog for a video extensometer.
The dialog opens in the AVE2 screen.
3. Select Image Capture.
The dialog moves to the Image Capture screen.
4. Select Open Digital Image Correlation software....

Once calibrated, the video extensometer behaves like any other transducer when you
operate it with Bluehill
®

reference. A summary of possible setup steps using Bluehill
®
3 software and an AVE2 is
as follows:
1. Go to Measurements > Setup and create a physical strain measurement using Strain
1 as the transducer configuration. The video extensometer is always connected to
Strain 1. You can name the measurement AVE2.
2. Go to Test Control > Strain and choose the new AVE2 measurement as the primary
source.
3. Go to Test Control > Pre-Test and enable auto-balance for the AVE2.
4. Setup the workspace to your requirements. You will probably want to assign one of
the live displays to show AVE2 strain.
Using Bluehill
®
3 software with DIC Replay
For full details, refer to the manual supplied with DIC Replay software.
DIC Replay is not available for the SVE2 extensometer.
