Alternate Configuration with an External Router
NOTE: For the steps below, please
make sure that the cable/DSL modem
and the router are connected, turned
on, and functioning properly.
To set up the MTA 3328-2R with more than one PC
using the alternate configuration:
IMPORTANT: Do not plug in the MTA
3328-2R’s power cord until instructed to
do so.
1. Using a standard Ethernet network cable (RJ-
45) included with the device, connect the
WAN
port on the back of the MTA 3328-2R to
the router.
2. Using the standard telephone cable (RJ-11)
included with the device, connect the
Phone 1
port on the back of the MTA 3328-2R to your
telephone.
3. Connect the D/C power adapter (included with
the device) to the
PWR
port on the back of the
MTA 3328-2R, and then plug the power cord
into a wall outlet.
DHCP users: If your broadband service
provider uses DHCP, wait several
minutes for the device to initialize. It may
