4.2 Cleaning / changing
the exhaust filter
The
hygienic exhaust filter (Fig. 21)
filters the finest par-
ticles out of the exhaust air.
Cleaning: at every filter bag change (
Z
chapter 4.1,
"Changing the dust filter bag"
), but at least every 6
months
Changing: only if it is very dirty or damaged
1.
Switch off the vacuum cleaner and pull the plug from the
mains socket.
2.
Push down the release catch of the exhaust filter cover
(Fig. 20) and fold the cover down and away.
3.
Remove the hygienic exhaust filter (Fig. 21).
4.
Tap the dirt out of the hygienic exhaust filter over a dust-
bin for a rough cleaning.
5.
Should this be insufficient, remove the dirt from the filter
with a softbrush, e.g. the furniture brush supplied with
the appliance.
6.
If such dry cleaning is insufficient, thoroughly rinse the
filter by hand in running clear cold or hand-warm water.
7.
If the filter is damaged or deformed, replace it (ordering
information
Z
chapter 5.2, "Accessories and spare
parts"
).
8.
Put the new / cleaned and completely dry filter back into
its receptacle (Fig. 21). Make sure that the tab for re-
moving the filter shows towards the outside of the appli-
ance.
9.
Attach the exhaust filter cover first at the bottom side
and then push it into the appliance (Fig. 22) until you
feel and hear it snap into place.
ATTENTION:
The filter is washable, but it may not be cleaned in dish-
washers or washing machines. Also, do not use deter-
gents or brushes with hard bristles to clean the filters. Let
the filter dry for approx. 24 hours at room temperature
after washing it. Only put it back in place when it is com-
pletely dry.

NOTE:
Make sure that that the hygienic exhaust filter is always properly in its position and the exhaust fil-
ter cover is always locked completely into place, otherwise the exhaust air will not be sufficiently
filtered.
