PROBLEM CAUSE RESOLUTION
ƒ
Do not operate multiple tools at one
time.
Coalescer filter plugging. Excessive water in system.
ƒ Reduce short run (i.e. less than 15
minute) times. Run compressor for
at least 15-20 minutes each time it
is started.
Foreign material entering
compressor inlet.
ƒ Check air filter.
ƒ
Replace if damaged.
High oil consumption / oil in air
system. Excessive oil level.
ƒ Check level per filling instructions.
Drain excess oil if necessary.
Plugged coalescer filter.
ƒ Replace coalescer filter.
Compressor operating at low
pressure (60 psi or below).
ƒ Operate at rated pressure.
ƒ Reduce system load.
Compressor oil leak.
ƒ Inspect and repair leaks.
Leaking oil lines or cooler.
ƒ Inspect and repair all oil lines
and/or cooler.
Leaking compressor shaft seal.
ƒ Replace seal.
Water in air system. Defective moisture
separator/drain trap.
ƒ Inspect and clean if required.
Replace separator/trap if required.
Air cooler core dirty.
ƒ Inspect and clean.
Air tank not drained.
ƒ
Open tank drain. (This should be
done each time compressor is run,
prior to driving the truck.
Excess moisture in compressor
oil.
ƒ Let truck sit overnight. Open oil
drain valve on compressor until oil
starts to drain. Close drain and
check oil level per filling
instructions.
Excessive noise level. Incorrect compressor speed.
ƒ Check pulley speed using
phototach. WARNING - Do not
check speed manually. Do not
exceed speeds of 8000 RPM. If
speed control is not working
properly, contact IMT Technical
Support.
Low oil level.
ƒ Check oil level per filling
instructions. Fill as required.
Excessive vibration. Loose components.
ƒ Inspect and tighten.
Compressor bearing failure.
ƒ Contact authorized distributor or
IMT immediately. Do not operate
unit.
