Inputs (XLR jacks, balanced) of channels 1 to 4:

connection of balanced capacitor microphones or
electret microphones designed for a 48 V phantom
power supply

Outputs (XLR chassis plugs, balanced) of chan-

nels 1 to 4: connection to balanced microphone
inputs on the audio unit (mixer or amplifier)

same type only

Mains cable to connect 230 V~/50 Hz

2

Applications

The phantom power supply unit EMA-400 supplies the
required voltage to capacitor microphones or electret
microphones designed for a phantom power of 48 V

.

Thus, it allows connection of these microphones to
mixers or amplifiers which do not provide any phantom
power. It is possible to connect up to four microphones
to the unit.

Safety Notes

This unit corresponds to the directive for electromag-
netic compatibility 89/336/EEC and to the low voltage
directive 73/23/EEC.

Please observe the following items in any case:

The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it
against dripping water and splash water, high air

Do not place any vessels filled with liquid, e. g. drink-
ing glasses, on the unit.

Do not operate the unit and immediately disconnect
the plug from the mains socket
1. if there is visible damage to the unit or to the

Setting the Unit into Operation

Up to four capacitor microphones or electret micro-
phones can be connected to the phantom power supply
unit. The microphones must have a balanced connec-
tion.

1) Connect the cables of the microphones to the

“MICROPHONE INPUTS” (3) of channels 1 to 4.
(The XLR jacks are provided with a latching device.
To release it, press the PUSH lever of the corre-
sponding jack when disconnecting the plug.)

2) Connect the “OUTPUTS” (4) of channels 1 to 4 to

balanced microphone inputs of the audio unit used
(mixer or amplifier).

3) Connect the plug of the mains cable (6) to a mains

socket (230 V~/50 Hz).

4) Switch on the phantom power supply unit with the

switch “POWER” (2). With the unit switched on, the
power LED (1) next to the switch lights up. After op-
eration, switch off the unit with the “POWER” switch.
