Chapter 1: Introduction

PC Controls

A PC application using Sony protocol can control the DVR-3901
through the RS-422 port. An RS-232 to RS-422 conversion cable,
included in the DVR-3901 package, should be used to connect the PC to
the DVR-3901 RS-422 port.

Ethernet Controls

In addition to RS-422 control, you can control the DVR-3901 through
UDP/IP communication. This method supports the same commands as
the RS-422 controls, but they are wrapped differently.

Offline File Transfer

The DVR-3901’s two drives can be put offline individually. Once a
drive is offline, you can transfer video/audio clips on that drive in and
out of the drive through the Ethernet port.

Operation Modes

The DVR-3901 operates in two different modes: Playlist mode and
BVW/Odetics mode. It can be controlled by a RS-422 controller or an
Ethernet controller in either mode.
