b) Do not use a power tool with a dam-
aged switch.
A power tool that cannot be
switched on or off any more is dangerous
and must be repaired.
c) Pull the mains plug out of the socket be-
fore you adjust a tool, change accesso-
ries or put the tool aside.
This precaution
avoids the unintentional start of the tool.
d) Store power tools out of the reach of
children. Do not allow persons to use the
tool if they are not familiar with the tool
or these instructions.
Power tools are dan-
gerous if used by inexperienced persons.
e) Thoroughly maintain your power tool.
Check whether moving parts are working
properly and are not jamming/sticking,
and whether parts are broken or other-
wise damaged in a way that affects the
function of the tool. Have damaged parts
repaired before using the tool.
Many ac-
cidents are the result of poorly maintained
power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.
Thor-
oughly looked-after cutting tools with sharp
cutting edges are jamming less often and
are easier to guide.
g) Use power tools, accessories, add-on
tools, etc. in accordance with these in-
structions and in the way prescribed for
the respective type of tool. You should
also consider the working conditions
and the work to be carried out.
The use
of power tools for purposes other than those
intended for the respective tool may result in
dangerous situations.
5) Appropriate handling and use of bat-
tery-operated power tools
a) Make sure that the device has been
switched off before inserting the battery.
Inserting a battery into a switched-on power
tool may lead to accidents!
b) Only use charging devices recommend-
ed by the manufacturer to charge the bat-
teries.
Charging units are usually designed
for certain types of batteries; if used with
other types there is a risk of fire!
c) Only use batteries designed for your
power tool.
The use of other batteries may
lead to injury and risk of fire!
d) Keep unused batteries clear of paper
clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other
small metal objects that may bridge the
contacts.
A short circuit between the bat-
tery contacts may lead to burns or fire!
e)
Improper use may result in fluid leaking
out of the battery. Avoid any contact
with battery fluid. Flush with water in
case of contact. If battery fluid should
get into your eyes seek medical advice
additionally.
Leaking battery fluid may lead
to irritations of the skin or burns!
6) Service
a)
Have the power tool serviced by qualified
technical personnel only; repairs should
be carried out using exclusively original
spare parts.
This will ensure the safe oper-
ation of the power tool.
Inserting/removing the battery
(not included in the
scope of delivery) (Fig. 4)
• Press the battery release buttons (a) to remove the re-
chargeable battery (
E
) from the hedge trimmer/pruner.
• The charged battery can be inserted into the battery
mounting on the hedge trimmer/pruner with a light
press. The locking mechanism will ‚click‘ when the
battery is in place.
Warning:
To prevent accidental operation, make
sure that the battery is removed and that the chain
cover is in position on the saw chain before carry-
ing out the following procedures. Failure to do this
can result in serious personal injuries.

Switching the hedge trimmer/pruner on and
off
(Fig. 5)
Before switching on: remove the blade guard.
• Insert the rechargeable battery.
• Place take a safe standing position to switch on the
hedge trimmer/pruner.
• Hold the hedge trimmer/pruner with both hands by the
handles provided
• Press the locking mechanism button (2) using your
thumb and press the on/off switch (1) at the same
time.
• Release the locking mechanism button (2).
•
NOTE:
This hedge trimmer/pruner has a two-hand
safety circuit. It can only be put into operation if both
switches are activated.
• To turn the device off, simply let go of the switches.
The hedge trimmer/pruner will switch off after releas-
ing one of the two switches.
• Pay attention to the cutting blade running on after
switching off.
Warning: Never attempt to use the hedge trim-
mer/pruner if parts are damaged or missing.
