4. Press the unload button once per second until

display and the following message displays. (If you cycle past the desired code,
press the unload button once per second until the code redisplays.)

5. Press and hold the unload button for 3 or more seconds, then release it to select
the function. Immediately after the following message displays, insert a scratch
(blank) data cartridge that is not write-protected (or the tape drive exits
maintenance mode).

After you insert the scratch data cartridge, the flashing

in the single-character
display changes to
H
and one or more of the following messages display:

followed by:

The tape drive runs the tests.

If no error is detected, the test will loop and begin again. To stop the loop,
press the unload button for one second and release. When the loop ends,

temporarily appears in the single-character display. The drive rewinds the
tape, unloads the cartridge, and displays the following message:
Passed!
Tape Unloading
The drive then exits maintenance mode and displays the following message:

Drive Empty

If an error is detected the test stops,

and the following message displays:
ERROR!
