Removing a CIOv form-factor expansion card
You can remove a CIOv form-factor expansion card from the 1Xe connector.
1. Read the Safety topic and the “Installation guidelines” on page 19.
2. Shut down the operating system, turn off the blade server, and remove the blade server from the
BladeCenter unit. See “Removing the blade server from a BladeCenter unit” on page 20.
3. Carefully lay the blade server on a flat, static-protective surface, with the cover side up.

Open and remove the blade server cover. See “Removing the blade server cover” on page 22.
5. Lift the expansion card

up and away from the 1Xe connector and out of the blade server.

If you are instructed to return the expansion card, follow all packaging instructions, and use any
packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
Installing a CIOv form-factor expansion card
You can install a CIOv form-factor expansion card on the 1Xe connector to expand the I/O capabilities of
the blade server.
