Removing the shipping bracket and connecting power cords and power
distribution unit (PDU) for your preinstalled server
Before you set up a console, you must remove the shipping brackets and connect power cords.
Attention:
v Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap to the front ESD jack, to the rear ESD jack, or to an
unpainted metal surface of your hardware to prevent the electrostatic discharge from damaging your
hardware.
v When you use an ESD wrist strap, follow all electrical safety procedures. An ESD wrist strap is used
for static control. It does not increase or decrease your risk of receiving electric shock when using or
working on electrical equipment.
v If you do not have an ESD wrist strap, just prior to removing the product from ESD packaging and
installing or replacing hardware, touch an unpainted metal surface of the system for a minimum of 5
seconds.
To remove the shipping bracket and connect power cords, do the following:
1. Remove the four screws that secure the shipping brackets to the chassis.
Store the shipping brackets if you want to move your system at a later date.
Note:
If an expansion unit was shipped in the rack with the system, remove the shipping bracket for
those as well.
2. Cable the server.
a. Ensure that the two power cords are fully seated in the power supplies (A) and attach the cables
to the handles on the power supply with cable ties or hook-and-loop fasteners (B).
